Hôtel Regina Biarritz: Luxury at the heart of June's major events
In June, Biarritz transforms itself into a cultural and creative crossroads. From the Regina Experimental, the city's emblematic oceanfront hotel, visitors have direct access to the events that make the seaside town tick. Whether you're a fan of cinema d'auteur or surf and motorcycle culture, two major events liven up the Biarritz scene at the start of summer: the Festival International du Film de Biarritz - Nouvelles Vagues and Wheels and Waves. And to experience them to the full, there's nothing like staying at Le Regina, both a haven of tranquillity and an ideal base.
An ideal location, between city and horizon
Just a few minutes' walk from the city center, the beaches and the famous Grande Plage, the Hôtel Regina Experimental Biarritz enjoys a privileged location on the heights, in a peaceful setting yet at the heart of the action. Overlooking the Biarritz lighthouse and the Atlantic Ocean, it offers spectacular panoramic views of the Basque coast. The hotel is easily accessible by car, 10 minutes from Biarritz train station and around 10 minutes from the airport, making it an ideal base for exploring the entire region, as far as Saint-Jean-de-Luz or even Saint-Sébastien.
Nouvelles Vagues Festival: Biarritz celebrates young filmmakers
Dates: June 24 to 29, 2025
Driven by the energy and stories of new generations, the Biarritz International Film Festival - Nouvelles Vagues celebrates youth in all its forms. For six days, the city is transformed into a space for creation, reflection and projection around this universal theme.
At the heart of the program: an international competition featuring eight feature-length films never before shown in French cinemas, focusing on the stories and issues of contemporary youth. At the same time, more than thirty films will be screened out of competition, in a variety of formats, from theatrical screenings to open-air screenings on the beach, accessible to all.
The festival is also distinguished by its juries made up exclusively of young talent: a jury of international artists under 35, a jury of film school students and a jury of Culture Pass beneficiaries. They all come together in Biarritz to exchange ideas with the public around screenings, meetings and exhibitions, in an atmosphere that is both festive and committed.
Wheels and Waves: free spirit blows through Biarritz
Dates: June 11 to 15, 2025
Another emblematic event of the month: the Wheels and Waves festival. For over a decade, this hybrid event has blended vintage motorcycle culture, surfing, skateboarding, art and music in a spirit of fierce freedom.
It's one of the most eagerly awaited events on the European alternative scene. It's a meeting place for custom enthusiasts, artists, professional riders and designers from all over the world. Between flat track races, art exhibitions and open-air concerts, Biarritz becomes a giant open-air playground for five days.
The Hotel Regina is ideally located just a stone's throw from the Cité de l'Océan, one of the festival's key venues. From here, you can radiate out to iconic spots like Milady beach, or follow the vintage motorcycle parades through the city streets.
A luxurious interlude between two events
On the bangs of this cultural effervescence, the Regina Experimental welcomes you to a uniquely charming setting, sublimated by the touch of designer Dorothée Meilichzon. Its Frenchie Biarritz restaurant, orchestrated by chef Grégory Marchand, offers a creative menu rooted in the Basque terroir, while the spa and bar under the atrium provide a welcome break after a day of screenings or festivities.
Luxury, comfort and discovery
With its 72 rooms and suites, its spa, its golf course opposite, and its hushed ambience inspired by the great transatlantic liners, the Regina offers a complete experience. Whether it's a cultural getaway, a festival weekend or an extended stay to explore the Basque Coast, everything is within easy reach.
