BUILT IN 1907 BY ARCHITECT AND LANDSCAPE DESIGNER HENRY MARTINET, THE REGINA HOTEL AND SPA IS A BELLE ÉPOQUE BUILDING EMBLEMATIC OF BIARRITZ, A SEASIDE TOWN ON THE BASQUE COAST.
With a monumental 15-metre-high atrium, huge bay windows overlooking the sea, an Eiffel glass roof and numerous Art Deco details, Le Regina is an emblematic example of Belle Epoque architecture on the Basque coast. Its decor has been completely revamped by designer Dorothée Meilichzon, revisiting the luxury of seaside living in Biarritz. Several small lounges now welcome you under the large glass roof in a brightly lit space punctuated by dark greens and reds, blues and sandstone, ceramics and natural tones. Reinventing the score of a 1920s cocktail piano bar, sofas play on the shapes of the Itsasoan footbridge in Guéthary, creating numerous intimate spaces with hanging paper lamps by Ingo Maurer and Anthony Dickens.
The hotel's vast restaurant and panoramic oceanfront terrace are home to Frenchie Biarritz, a creative brasserie rooted in the finest Basque culinary culture. Taste refined Southwestern cuisine in an idyllic setting with a breathtaking view of the sunset.
Accessible from corridors opening onto the atrium, the hotel's seventy-two white, blue and mint-green rooms face the ocean or the Golf de Biarritz. Raw materials such as straw and Japanese rope are combined with marine stripes, seashells and ocean liner style: curved and curving forms, long horizontal lines, carpets with aquatic motifs... for spacious, comfortable rooms and suites. Some have breathtaking views of the Atlantic coast.
With the first rays of sunshine, the outdoor swimming pool becomes an excuse to relax and contemplate the dream setting on the Bay of Biarritz. Heated from April to October, you can cool off and swim a few laps in a privileged setting. You may also prefer the large Biarritz beach or the nearby Miramar beach for a swim or surf session on the Basque coast.
